Nard Pinto can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
After an eventful week that saw him getting traded from two different teams, Pinto has officially signed with Meralco for the upcoming 2019 PBA season.
“Masaya, malungkot, at excited yung naramdaman ko,” said Pinto in describing his emotions for the past week.
Despite coming off a breakout season, the stocky point guard was shockingly shipped two times this past offseason—by Blackwater and Phoenix—before making his way to the Bolts.
He admitted that it hurt at first when he heard that he was traded since he’ll miss playing with his former teammates. But at the same time, he understands that professional basketball is a business after all.
“Nakakalungkot kasi mami-miss ko yung teammates and coaches ko. Pero ganun pa man, ganun talaga trabaho namin. Hindi namin hawak kung saan kami,” bared the former Arellano chief.
Instead of seeing it as a low point, Pinto vows to use it as motivation to work even harder in honing his craft. As he is set to join the Bolts, the 28-year-old is more than ecstatic to start anew.
For him, a chance of getting to work with head coach Norman Black is something he looks forward to.
“Masaya ako kasi may Meralco na nagti-tiwala sa akin at excited ako sa bagong journey ng career ko. Bukas pa ako mag-practice with them at makikilala si coach Norman (Black),” he ended.
