Phoenix holds off Blackwater to grab fourth straight win

Toronto Raptors superstar Kawhi Leonard nails nine 3’s in a row!

Phoenix continued their undefeated streak as they defeated Blackwater, 114-95, in their PBA Philippine Cup showdown Friday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

The Fuel Masters set the tone early as they went on a 14-0 run late in the first quarter. The onslaught continued in the third period as they established their biggest lead of the game at 37, 85-48, after RJ Jazul knocked down a three-pointer.

The Elite tried to mount a comeback as Paul Desiderio’s free throw cut the lead down to 14, 101-87, late in the fourth quarter. That was the closest that they would get as Phoenix held on for the victory.

Calvin Abueva had a monster performance with 22 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Fuel Masters, while Matthew Wright added 19 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists.

Abu Tratter paced Blackwater with 24 points and 8 rebounds as they fell to 1-3.

“I don’t know kung anong nakain ng shooters ko. And 56 percent yung field goal namin sa first half. That’s the game,” quipped Phoenix head coach Louie Alas.
