ONE Championship is gearing up for one of its biggest events of the year

On Friday, May 18, the Singapore Indoor Stadium plays host to ONE: Unstoppable Dreams.

The event will feature three world title matches, the return bout of former ONE World Lightweight Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, and a ONE Super Series Kickboxing match between two Muay Thai legends who will make their debut in ONE.

At the press conference for the event, the promotion also formally launched its ONE Super App. The app aims to deliver live ONE Championship events for free, as well as feature the inspirational stories of its fighters.

“Asia’s been a home of martial arts for 5000 years. It is part of the fabric of society, of history, and tradition across the entire continent,” ONE CEO and founder Chatri Sityodtong said. “Our mission is not only to unleash real life superheroes, but we want to unite 4.4 billion people, hopefully on our ONE Super App, we’ll have billions of people watching our events live celebrating remarkable stories of each one of our champions here.

True to their goal of celebrating martial arts, the promotion introduced the Super Series this year, which provides martial arts specialists the opportunity to compete in their respective disciplines.

Yodsanklai IWE Fairtex, a Muay Thai legend that has competed in over 200 fights, will make his debut in the Super Series as he takes on Chris “The African Warrior” Ngimbi, a Congolese-Dutch multiple-time Muay Thai champion.
While they are known in their respective countries, competing in a ONE event is a chance for them to showcase their talents to the rest of the world.

The event will also feature the inaugural ONE Super Series Flyweight Muay Thai World Championship, which will be fought for by one of the greatest Muay Thai competitors in the history of the sport, Sam-A Gaiyanghadao and an explosive multiple-time Muay Thai champion in Sergio Wielzen.

Japanese grappling specialist Shinya Aoki and ONE knockouts-leader Amir Khan will also be in action as they take on Rasul Yakyaev and Sung Jong Lee, respectively, under the ONE Global Rules Set.

For the first time since his devastating loss to Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, the Philippines’ Eduard “Landslide” Folayang will step inside the cage once more, facing an undefeated finisher in Russia’s Kharun “Predator” Atlangriev.

Two-division world champion Nguyen will also be in action, as he defends the ONE Featherweight World Championship against Singapore’s Christian Lee. For Nguyen, competing in the cage is more than just fighting for belts. “Having these belts have always been a dream, part of the journey, but it’s an accessory,” he said. “I’m all about spreading the true value of martial arts.”

Headlining the event will be the much-anticipated rematch between ONE Atomweight Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee and Mei Yamaguchi. To date, Lee’s match against Yamaguchi was the only one that went to the cards, and it was a razor thin decision at the time. Their rematch was delayed after Lee figured in a car accident late last year.

“I have to get a clear fight, I don’t need a decision,” Yamaguchi said on how she wants to approach the fight.

Lee recognizes how dangerous her opponent is, but is confident going into the fight. “She’s not the same fighter two years ago, and I’m not the same fighter two years ago. We will bring out the best from each other,” Lee said.
