Philippines shower Pacquiao with praise after he becomes oldest Welterweight Champion in boxing history

Tyson Fury admits his venture into WWE has infuriated his team and family

Manny Pacquiao defied father time to emerge victorious against Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman and captured the WBA Welterweight strap – making him the oldest champion ever in the weight class.Β

The Philippines stood alongside the 40-year-old and serenaded him with praise after his achievement. Pacquiao got the better of Thurman on the judges’ scorecard in a split decision.

Thurman himself acknowledged after the fight that his conditioning and output was slightly lagging behind that of Pacquiao’s and that he had learned an important lesson on the day.

The American had also indulged in more than his fair share of pre-fight trash talk — only to be dropped in round one by Pacquiao and got visibly hurt after taking a body shot in Round 10.

After the fight, reactions poured in on social media from Pacquiao’s home country of Philippines, with people praising the pugilist for his remarkable showing against a much younger, undefeated champion.
