In the ongoing ‘will they, wont they’ saga pertaining to a potential bout between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, the Irishman has dropped his latest clue that the fight could be on.
When The Sun first broke the story that the outspoken pair might meet they quoted an anonymous source inside Mayweather’s camp as saying: “Floyd is calling the shots. It’s strictly boxing and Conor will have to lose roughly 25 lbs.”
At the time McGregor was recovering from a defeat to Nate Diaz at UFC 196 that was fought at 170 lbs. Here is how he looked days before that event.

In a recent tweet McGregor looks to have cut a considerable amount of weight. His physical condition appears to be extremely similar to that when he defeated Jose Aldo at featherweight which is just two pounds less than the weight he is rumoured to be fighting Mayweather at.

It could be argued that he has now abandoned the idea of a rematch with Diaz and is instead preparing to defend his featherweight title.
However, Aldo and Frankie Edgar meet at UFC 200 for the interim featherweight belt on July nine. If he were to battle the winner, that would mean that McGregor would be inactive until at least September. So that scenario seems highly unlikely, especially considering that he recently tweeted this.
