St-Pierre, Mousasi call out opponents

40 year-old UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber wins comeback fight by 1st round TKO VS Ricky Simon

Georges St-Pierre’s camp has called out Nate Diaz, while Gegard Mousasi has also issued a challenge to Anderson Silva.

While St-Pierre’s return to the Octagon hasn’t even been confirmed yet, the Canadian’s coach Firas Zahabi is already on Twitter laying down the gauntlet.

Diaz’s impressive victory over Conor McGregor caught the eye of Zahabi, who tweeted:

The fight has a more than decent chance of happening, as Diaz himself has asked for it.

“I just told Dana White, ‘I’m going to 170’,” Diaz told ahead of UFC 196. “I’m not fighting these guys. Pettis, Alvarez, all these scary-ass fighters don’t want to fight me. So what the hell am I going to do, sit around this division and wait for a fight?”

“So, it’s all good, I’m going to go up to 170 then. Start eating. I texted that to Dana,” he said. “We were talking the day before they called me. I said, ‘I’m trying to get the GSP fight’ because I heard he’s coming back. He said, ‘Oh, I think he wants to fight Lawler.’ And then he called me the next day (to book the McGregor fight).”

Meanwhile, Mousasi is looking to follow up his victory over Thales Leites in London by staging a showdown with former middleweight king Anderson Silva, either at UFC 199 in June or UFC 200 in July, and he also issued a challenge on Twitter:

A return for Silva was touted at UFC 198, although that would probably be too early, according to Mousasi’s manager Nima Safapour.

“It is an exciting idea as it will be a stadium show, however, the Curitiba card is right around the corner. Therefore we need adequate time to put the camp together and prepare. We would gladly fight Anderson, however, a May date is too soon of a return. Had we known immediately after the London card then maybe, but that time has passed us unfortunately,” Safapour wrote.

“We will take the fight gladly. However, I think it would make more sense to have them fight at either UFC 199 in LA at the earliest or UFC 200 in Vegas at the latest.”
