Jones in private prison wing

UFC: Dos Anjos vs Lee – RDA desperate to get back to winning ways

Jon Jones has been separated from the general prison population at Metropolitan Detention Center in Bernalillo County, as he awaits his hearing for an alleged probation violation.

The 28-year-old has been held at Metropolitan Detention Center without bail since Tuesday after turning himself in to authorities after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

According to TMZ Sports, he was moved to a private wing for his own protection.

“From the moment he walked into the jail, everyone knew he was there. It got around fast. Everyone knows who he is because he was just here a few months ago to speak as part of his community service,” a source told TMZ Sports.

Jones was pulled over last Thursday in Albuquerque, New Mexico and received five traffic citations for drag racing, exhibition driving, weaving, failing to properly display his license plate, and modifying his exhaust pipe.

The former UFC light heavyweight champion proceeded to call the officer who pulled him over a “liar” and a “pig” in an exchange in which Jones became increasingly agitated.

It was Jones’ second brush with the law since agreeing to an 18-month supervised probation plea for a hit-and-run incident last April.

Jones’ hearing is expected to take place on Thursday morning.

The fighter’s representatives have stated that they do not expect Jones’ legal issues to impact his scheduled fight with Daniel Cormier at UFC 197.
