Cormier, Jones separated following fiery face-off

UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones had to be separated after they got into a war of words during an intense staredown ahead of UFC 200 on Saturday.

There is no love lost between Cormier and Jones as the pair were involved in a vicious brawl at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas two years ago ahead of their first meeting at UFC 182 in January 2015.

While no blows were traded on Wednesday, things got heated when they traded verbal jabs.

The pair were eventually separated by security, but Jones made sure to get the last word by smiling as he raised his interim light heavyweight title.

In their last encounter, Jones, who was the light heavyweight champion at the time, got the better of Cormier and handed the 37-year-old the first and only loss of his MMA career.

Just over three months after that fight, Jones was involved in a hit-and-run incident in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was subsequently stripped of the title.

Cormier went on to claim it when he made Anthony Johnson submit in the third round of their bout at UFC 187 in May last year.
