As Youth Football League action continued for the U17 age group and below, the U18 Girls and U19 divisions kicked off their first games of the season.
Nomads FC and Beach Hut FC kicked off their U19 Girls campaigns on a bright note with victories over Kaya (3-0) and Forza (1-0), respectively. Ceres North and Ceres South played to a thrilling 3-3 daw in U19 play. Ceres North raced to a 3-1 lead in the early stages of the second half before its counterparts from the South pulled back two goals.
David Poticiano, one of Ceres South’s scorers, analyzed his goal and said, “It was important because we were 1-nil down and we had to find a draw. That set piece we had a gameplan so it was executed very well.”
In the other U19 match for the day, Mendiola sealed a 3-0 victory over Forza.
In U17 action, Forza crushed G8, 9-0. There was no looking back for the prior despite taking a 4-nil lead at the halftime break. On the other hand, Mendiola sealed a come-from-behind win over Laos FC, 2-1. as Malaya FC dealt Ceres South a 4-1 defeat. Ceres South held a one-goal lead at the half but struggled to contain its counterparts.
Over at the U15 division Forza and MSA Agila edged out Laos (2-1) and Ceres North (3-2), correspondingly. The two victors found themselves trailing but eventually stepped up their play to take take away full points. It was a day to forget for Kaya Academy ‘04-’05 as it took a 6-0 defeat to Apuesto Bueno. The latter held a slim one-goal lead at halftime but opened the floodgates in the second half.
The lone U13 match of the day saw DFU take home a 3-1 win over Malaya. There was much to play for in the second half as both teams were still level at 1-all.
