Toure out for City, Ronaldo in for Real

Valverde faces up to the reality of Copa del Rey final defeat at the hands of Valencia

Manchester City have been dealt a blow with the news that midfielder Yaya Toure will miss Tuesday’s first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid because of a thigh injury.

The 32-year-old suffered the injury late in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Stoke, but did not leave the field as City had already used their three substitutes.

Good news for the Citizens, however, is that captain Vincent Kompany has declared himself “100% fit” after several calf injuries.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, will be bolstered by the return of Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo from injuries.

Ronaldo missed Saturday’s 3-2 win over Rayo Vallecano with a thigh injury, while Benzema limped off in the first half of that match.

“They are absolutely fine at the moment, they have recovered really well,” said coach Zinedine Zidane.

“I think they will be fine, 100%. But we will test them. The idea is they’ll play.”
