Watzke waiting on Hummels decision

‘We are very confident we will win’ – Fans ahead the AFCON final

BVB Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke says he expects defender Mats Hummels to make a decision on his future in the coming week.

The Dortmund skipper angered the club's supporters recently after admitting he was open to the idea of returning to former club Bayern München in the off-season transfer window.

This after the Bundesliga champions sounded out the 27-year-old to gauge whether he would be interested in making a move to the Allianz Arena.

And, with just one year remaining on his contract with Dortmund, it appears Hummels could soon be heading for the Westfalenstadion exit.

"The decision is up to him, the ball is in his court," Watzke told Sky Sport.

"I think he will decide soon. I believe that decision will come during the next week."

Hummels is a product of Bayern's youth system and made just one first-team appearance before joining Dortmund on a season-long loan ahead of the 2008/09 season.

The Germany international made his stay at Dortmund a permanent one in 2009 and, to date, has racked up over 200 first-team appearances for The Black and Yellows.
