Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan has confirmed Chelsea have made contact with his club to enquire about a potential transfer in the off-season.
The 28-year-old, whose contract with the Italian club runs until June 2020, also revealed that incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte had previously tried to sign him whilst at the helm of Juventus.
However, Nainggolan was quick to point out that a deal had not yet been agreed by the two clubs.
"There has been contact between Roma and Chelsea," Nainggolan told HLN Nina. "But I will not get involved so long as there is no agreement between the clubs.
"Chelsea are keen to strengthen their squad and Conte is a manager who wanted to sign me before. Chelsea are a big club.
"But the transfer is not a done deal so long as there is no signed contract on the table. And it would not be easy to leave Italy after 11 years."
The Belgium international made 35 appearances for Roma in the 2015/16 campaign, scoring six goals and providing one assist.
Nainggolan also counts Italian duo Piacenza and Cagliari amongst his former clubs.
