Italy international goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has warned of the threat posed by Belgium midfielder Eden Hazard, ahead of their Euro 2016 opening fixture on Monday night.
Buffon and Hazard were present at Sunday’s press conference as national team captains, with the Chelsea man expressing his excitement at being able to showcase his talent in front of Blues manager Antonio Conte, who will take over the reins at Stamford Bridge after the conclsuion of the European Championship.
“I just can’t wait for tomorrow to come around so I can begin this tournamentI am very happy I can play against my future manager,” Hazard told reporters.
“I hope I can show him everything I am capable of next season.”
Buffon, who is set to make his 158th appearance for Italy, highlighted the impact that the former Lille man could have on the fixture at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais stadium.
“He is one of the very few players on the continent that can have an impact and turn the game,” Buffon said.
“He has innate ability and, for both Belgium and Chelsea, He has innate ability and, for both Belgium and Chelsea because with one piece of play he can win the match.”
