Midfielder Jose Manuel Jurado has joined Espanyol on a three-year contract following a one-year stint on the books of English Premier League outfit Watford.
The 30-year-old made 27 appearances for the Hornets in the Premier League last season, but failed to provide any assists or goals as the club secured a 13th-place finish under the stewardship of Quique Sanchez Flores.
However, following the appointment of Walter Mazzarri as Watford's new head coach in the off-season, Jurado was deemed surplus to requirements by the new man at the Vicarage Road helm.
A statement issued on the club's official website read: "The Hornets can confirm that Jose Manuel Jurado has today completed a permanent transfer to Espanyol.
"All at Watford FC wish Jose well for the future."
Meanwhile, Watford have received a welcome boost with the news that goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has agreed a new two-year deal.
The club said: "Heurelho Gomes has agreed terms on an improved contract offer from the Hornets.
"The Brazilian, whose deal runs until 2018, has been rewarded for his fine performances in the Watford goal over the past two years."
