New Middlesbrough signing Marten de Roon could not hide his delight at joining the Premier League club after signing a four-year deal on Monday.
The Dutch midfielder joined the newly-promoted team from Atalanta for a reported fee of €14 million and comes with a reputation as one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe.
No player in the Serie A made more tackles than the 25-year-old, who picked up the Player of the Year award for La Dea last season, and he's keen to replicate that form with Boro.
"I'm really happy to be here. It's an honour that Middlesbrough chose me to come here and play for them," De Roon told the club's official website.
"I hope I can make it a good season for the club. At the end of last season in Italy Boro contacted my agent and told me they were interested.
"I was directly interested because for any player the Premier League is the highest level you can reach – especially for a Dutch player. From the age of six you're looking up to the Premier League.
"The two clubs had some negotiations but I'm happy that after a month or so it's all done."
