WfL Wolfsburg could rekindle their interest in Simone Zaza after losing out to Tottenham in the pursuit of Dutch striker Vincent Janssen.
Spurs confirmed the £17 million signing of Janssen from AZ on Tuesday, which saw Die Wolfe miss out on their main transfer target, who finished top scorer in the Eredivisie last season with 27 goals.
But the Bundesliga club's sporting director, Klaus Allofs, revealed that Zaza remains on their radar, the 25-year-old having previously been linked with a move to the Volkswagen Arena in January.
"We knew about [the Janssen transfer] for a while," Allofs told kicker. "[Zaza] could indeed be an option for us. But we'll see if that's realistic."
The 59-year-old also commented on rumours that the Lower Saxony outfit are looking to bring Mario Gomez back to Germany.
Gomez has returned to parent club Fiorentina after spending the 2015/16 campaign on loan at Besiktas, where his 26 goals in 33 appearances helped them clinch the Turkish Super Lig title.
"I don't want to rule out any options," Allofs said. "There are no indicators currently what Gomez plans for his future."
