Ajax rule out Milik departure

‘Nailed-on penalty on Martial, red for Cahill’ – Solskjaer unhappy with referee after Crystal Palace loss

Everton target Arkadiusz Milik will not be leaving Ajax during the off-season, according to the Dutch club's new manager, Peter Bosz.

The Poland international has attracted widespread interest from around Europe after a stellar season for both club and country.

Milik starred for the White Eagles at Euro 2016, where they reached the quarter-finals before being knocked out on penalties by eventual champions Portugal.

New Toffees boss Ronald Koeman was reportedly after Graziano Pelle, but has now set his sights elsewhere after the Italian moved to China this week.

After much deliberation, the Dutch giants announced that Bosz and sporting director Marc Overmars convinced Milik that it would be in his best interests to remain in the Eredivisie.

"Ajax and Arek Milik have mutually agreed that the striker, during the current transfer window does not transfer to another club," read a statement on the club's official website.

"The technical heart of Ajax and trainer Peter Bosz attach great importance to maintaining the top scorer of last season.

"The Polish international has an ongoing contract with Ajax until July 1, 2019 , but is clearly in the interest of several foreign clubs."
