The transfer window is hotting up and we’ve rounded up and rated the latest offerings from the rumour mill…
Toni Kroos to Manchester City (The Mirror)
Manchester City have made a £50million bid to prise Toni Kroos away from Real Madrid, with Pep Guardiola determined to be reunited with the midfielder.
Guardiola coached Kroos for one season at Bayern and remains a huge admirer of the Germany international, 24, who would be an ideal candidate to help implement the former Barcelona manager’s footballing philosophies.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, are understood to need to offload one of their superstars in order to help compete with Manchester United in the £100million pursuit of Paul Pogba.
Rumour rating: 6/10. Guardiola would undoubtedly like Kroos but City have other priorities and the playmaker is happy in Madrid.
Arda Turan to Arsenal or Chelsea (TalkSport)
Barcelona are willing to sell Arda Turan for a fee of around £20million this summer, with Arsenal and Chelsea linked with moves for the midfielder.
Turan joined Barca last summer but had to wait until January before making his debut due to the Catalan giants’ transfer ban.
The Turkey international struggled to break into Luis Enrique’s starting XI and it has been suggested the 29-year-old could be allowed to leave the Camp Nou, with Galatasary and Fenerbahce also interested in his services.
Rumour rating: 3/10. Both Arsenal and Chelsea are stacked with midfielders, while both Turan and Barca are said to be happy to persevere with each other.
Divock Origi to Atletico Madrid (Bleacher Report)
Atletico Madrid have lined up a move for Liverpool striker Divock Origi if they fail to land Chelsea forward Diego Costa.
Costa has been linked with a return to his former club over the past 12 months, but Antonio Conte has made it clear he does not want to lose the combative Spanish frontman.
Atleti boss Diego Simeone has instead turned his attention to Origi, who scored 10 goals in only 15 starts last season and is full of energy and industry.
Rumour rating: 5/10. Origi would be a perfect fit for a Simeone side, but Origi improved drastically under Jurgen Klopp, who sees the forward as a big part of his Liverpool plans and would be loathe to lose him.
Victor Lindelof to Chelsea (The Mirror)
Chelsea will make a £25million bid for Benfica centre-half Victor Lindelof after being priced out of moves for Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci and Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly.
Competition for both Bonucci and Koulibaly has driven the price up for the duo close to £50million, whereas Lindelof would be availavle for half that price due to a release clause in his contract.
The 22-year-old Swedish international caught the eye in his breakthrough season in Portugal last term, with Manchester United understood to have had an offer previously rebuffed.
Rumour rating: 8/10. Chelsea desperately need a new central defender and will view Lindelof as a much more obtainable target.
