China has once again been the busiest of the countries in the current transfer window, with several players making their way to the Chinese Super League and the country’s lower division.
Nevertheless, clubs from the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the Far East have also done plenty of business so far.
Here’s a breakdown of all the in-comings so far:
The 24-year-old former Australian U-23 international defender Jacob Pepper joins from Western Sydney Wanderers, who released him from his contract last month.
Former Australian international Neil Kilkenny joins from Preston North End, having previously spent time on the books of Birmingham City and Leeds United. A product of the Arsenal youth academy, he has been capped 14 times by the Socceroos and was a member of their team that featured in the 2011 Asian Cup final.
Midfielders Luke Brattan and Anthony Caceres make the move to Melbourne on loan from Manchester City.
Western Sydney Wanderers
The 28-year-old Japanese midfielder Jumpei Kusukami joins the Wanderers ahead of the new A-League season. The 28-year-old winger joins from Sagan Tosu, having spent time on the books of Kawasaki Frontale and Cerezo Osaka. Kusukami becomes the latest Japanese player to join the Sydneysiders, after Shinji Ono, Yojiro Takahagi and Yusuke Tanaka all played at the Parramatta Stadium at some point in their careers.
Australian international defender Robert Cornthwaite makes the move back to Australia on a two-year deal from Selangor, where he won the 2015 Malaysia Cup. Having played both legs of the 2008 AFC Champions League final for Adelaide United, he spent four years with Jeonnam Dragons before moving to Malaysia in 2014.
Australia U-20 and U-23 international winger Andrew Hoole makes signed a one-year deal with his former club, having spent the previous season at Sydney FC.
Central Coast Mariners
A former youth product of the club, former Western Sydney Wanderers winger Kwabena Appiah rejoins the Mariners from Wellington Phoenix, where he made 16 league appearances last season.
The 31-year-old Alan Baro signed with the club as a like-for-like replacement for the retiring Matthieu Delpierre, having spent the last five years at Spain’s SD Ponferradina.
Australia international Josh Brillante returns to the A-League after spending two years in Italy, at Fiorentina, Empoli and Como. A versatile player equally comfortable at full-back or midfield, the 23-yeaar-old has five caps for Australia.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder Jesse Makarounas has signed for Adelaide on a one-year-deal from A-League rivals Melbourne Victory. At his former club, he won the 2014-15 A-League premiership and 2015 FFA Cup, while featuring in the 2016 AFC Champions League Group Stage.
Goalkeeper Liam Reddy has written his name into the record book by joining the Perth side, a deal which makes him the first player to play for seven different A-League clubs. Previously, he has featured for Western Sydney Wanderer Sydney FC, Central Coast Mariners, Wellington Phoenix, Brisbane Roar and Newcastle Jets.
Iraq international Abdul-Qadir Tariq made the move to the Baghdad club from Al-Talaba, where he scored 10 goals last season.
All-time top Persian Gulf Pro League goal scorer Arash Borhani has joined newly-promoted Paykan. The 32-year-old former Iran international enjoyed a highly successful period at Esteghlal, where he scored 80 goals in eight seasons.
Two Brazilians and one Brazil-born Timor-Leste international have joined the Esfahan-based side in quick succession. The signings as confirmed by the club’s website are 23-year-old former Brazil U-20 international midfielder Cidinho from Botafogo, 28-year-old goalkeeper Lee Oliveira, who joins from Academica in Portugal, and Sao Paolo-born 24-year-old Timor-Leste striker Pedro Henrique.
Australian defender Antony Golec joins on a two-year deal after winning the league title in Moldova with FC Sheriff. Previously, he was a member of the Western Sydney Wanderers side that won the AFC Champions League in 2014.
Brazilian midfielder Wagner Ribeiro has joined Al Arabi on loan from Qatar rivals El Jaish. He has been playing in the Qatar Stars League since 2009 and has scored 24 goals in 64 matches for his former club.
Moroccan international Youssef Al Arabi joins the Qatari club on a three-year-old deal from Spanish top-flight club Granada The 29-year-old has been capped 36 times by Morocco and has 15 international goals to his name.
Brazilian forward Everaldo Stum joins the Saudi club from Santa Cruz, having previously plied his trade for a host of Brazilian clubs, including Gremio and Figueirense.
The 27-year-old Brazilian striker Nathan Junior joins Al Fateh on a three-year deal from Portuguese outfit Tondela, where he scored 13 goals in the most recent Primeira Liga season.
The two-time Asian Champions have confirmed that 22-year-old Brazilian forward Leo Bonatini has joined the club from Estoril in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. He scored 20 goals in 37 matches last season.
Additionally, Saudi national team captain Osama Hawsaw has returned to Al Hilal after spending the previous four years at Anderlecht and regional rivals Al Ahli.
The club also announced the signings of two more players – Saudi Arabian international Abdelmajid Al Rouweil and attacking midfielder Majed Al Najrani. They join from Al Taawoun and Al Qadisiyah respectively.
The 22-year-old Egyptian international Kahraba has joined the Jeddah-based club on a one-year loan deal from Zamalek. Last season he scored 14 goals in 30 Saudi Professional League matches.
He is joined by Kuwait international midfielder Fahad Al Ansari, who also signed a one-year loan deal from Kuwaiti outfit Al Qadsia.
Albanian international Alban Meha has joined from Turkish side Konyaspor on a two-year deal. The 30-year-old has been capped seven times by Albania but wasn’t included in their Euro 2016 squad.
They have also won the race to the signature of Paraguayan international midfielder Victor Ayala, who was a member of the team’s Copa America Centenario tournament squad last month.
The Mecca-based club has announced that 28-year-old Saudi Arabia forward Mukhtar Fallatah has rejoined the side. He joins from Al Ittihad, having previously played for Al Shabab.
Defensive midfielder Luíz Carlos Martins Moreira joins the Jeddah club after spending three seasons with Braga in Portugal’s Primeira Liga.
The 27-year-old Dutch striker Ruud Boyman has joined from FC Utrecht on a three-year deal. He arrives in Dubai after scoring 10 goals in 19 appearances in the Eredivisie last time around.
The 25-year-old Australian defender Zac Anderson has signed with the UAE Pro League club after being released by Sydney FC at the end of the A-League season. He appeared for Sydney on five occasions in the 2016 AFC Champions League.
Venezuelan international striker Gelmin Rivas has joined Sharjah on a three-year deal from Al-Ittihad. The 27-year-old has scored four times in the 2016 AFC Champions League, as Al Ittihad were eliminated in the Group Stage.
Al Jazira SCC
Midfield pair Salem Abdulla and Humaid Ahmed joins the Abu Dhabi club from Al Wasl and Fujairah respectively.
The 23-year-old Brazilian playmaker Ronaldo Mendes has joined the UAE Arabian Gulf League l on a five-year deal from Santos.
Morocco international midfielder Abdelaziz Barrada has signed from Marseille and is expected to be included in the club’s AFC Champions League squad ahead of their continental quarter-finals next month.
A plethora of players have joined the Kalba-based side. These include Iraqi veteran Salam Shaker from Al-Fateh, former Spanish striker Carmelo Gonzalez from Buriram United and Burkina Faso striker Yahia Kebe from Al-Kharitiyath.
The AFC Champions League quarter-finalists have confirmed the signings of the United Arab Emirates international Amer Abdulrahman and Brazilian winger Caio. Abdulrahman joins Al Ain from UAE rivals Baniyas and has been capped 44 times for the national side, while Caio has signed a reported three-year deal after opting to leave J-League side Kashima Antlers
The UAE Pro League side have confirmed the signings of local players Omar Al Rashidi and Yousef Hzam.
Lokomotiv’s squad has been significantly strengthened with the arrival of forward Artur Gevorkyan from Uzbek rivals Nasaf. Gevorkyan is a Turkmenistan international and was Nasaf’s captain prior to the move.
Australian international attacking midfielder Dario Vidosic has signed with the Northeast Tigers after being released by Western Sydney Wanderers.
They have also won the race for the signature of Nigeria international striker Anthony Ujah, who joins the club from SV Werder Bremen.
Shijiazhuang Ever Bright
The Hebei-based club have confirmed the acquisition of 33-year-old forward Matheus from Ukrainian outfit with Dnipro. He was a member of the Dnipro side that lost in the 2014-15 UEFA Europa League final to Sevilla and spent five years with the club.
Shanghai broke the Asian transfer record when they landed the signature of Zenit Saint Petersburg’s Brazilian international Hulk in a deal reportedly worth €55.8million. The forward has been in prolific form for his previous clubs – FC Porto and Zenit – having scored 164 goals in eight seasons in Portugal and Russia.
Uzbekistan striker Igor Sergeev has made the move to the Chinese Super League, joining the Beijing club on loan from Pakhtakor.
Hebei China Fortune
The Samba Kings have added more star quality to their side in the shape of 2015 CSL top scorer Aloisio from Shandong Luneng on the final day of the Chinese transfer window.
In another deadline day move, Sammir has joined the Green Giants, on loan from Jiangsu Suning. A Brazilian-born Croatian international, Sammir has filled the void in the squad left by Tim Cahill.
Jiangsu confirmed that the Korea Republic international Hong Jeong-ho has made the move to the CSL after spending three seasons in the Bundesliga with FC Augsburg.
Hong will be joined in Nanjing by Colombian forward Roger Martinez, after the 22-year-old’s move from Racing Club in Argentina was confirmed.
Taishan Dui has added two familiar faces for fans of the English Premier League to their squad – Italian international Graziano Pelle and Senegal striker Papiss Cisse. Pelle joins from Southampton after having a successful Euro 2016 campaign with the Azzurri, while Cisse makes the move to the CSL after spending four and a half years at Newcastle.
New manager Clarence Seedorf has added three new signings to his squad prior to the closure of the CSL’s transfer window. They are 25-year-old Jamaican international forward Deshorn Brown, who joins from Valerenga, ex-Henan Jianye defender Qiao Wei, who is 28 years of age, and 21-year-old attacking midfielder Wang Chengkuai. Wang made history when he became the first Chinese player to sign for Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam in 2012, but has spent the most recent years of his career in Portuguese football with Gondomar.
Nei Mongol Zhongyou F.C.
The 30-year-old Senegalese striker Andre Senghor has joined Nei Mongol Zhongyou from Shenzhen Ruby. He is a former winner of the Golden Boot in the UAE Pro League, a gong he achieved after scoring 18 goals for Baniyas in the 2010-11 season.
Jin Pengxiang has completed his loan move from Beijing Guoan to the China League One side.
Slovenia international defender Miral Samardzic has completed his move to Henan Jianye, his former club HNK Rijeka confirmed. The 29-year-old has appeared for the Slovenian national side on nine occasions.
Prolific Israeli striker Eran Zahavi has completed his move to Guangzhou R&F. The 28-year-old forward score a record 35 goals in the Israeli Premier League last season and has found the back of the net for Maccabi Tel Aviv 116 times over the last three seasons.
The K-League Cassic side have confirmed the loan signing of Brazilian midfielder Muralha from Flamengo.
The 2012 AFC Champions League winners have announced the signing of French-born striker Guinea-Bissau forward Frederic Mendy from Portuguese outfit Estoril.
Brazilian Jair makes his return to Korean football, having previously played for Jeju United prior to signing for K-League Classic side Jeonnam Dragons in the current transfer window.
Jair will be joined Australian central defender Tomislav Mrcela, who has spent most of his career in Croatia, most recently for NK Lokomotiva.
The 35-year-old Korea Republic international Kwak Tae-hwi has joined the AFC Champions League quarter-finalists from Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal, where he had been playing since 2013.
Maranhao is another one of Ulsan Hyundai’s 2012 AFC Champions League-winning team who has returned to Korean football. Prior to his move to Gangwon FC, the Brazilian striker has had stints in Japan, Saudi Arabia and Iran.
Suwon Samsung Bluewings
Former Dutch international winger Romeo Castelen has made the move to Suwon from Western Sydney Wanderers, where he appeared 44 times during a two-year spell.
The 22-year-old Serbian midfielder Ivan Markovic have joined the Korean club Bulgaria’s PFC Cherno More, after spending time on the books of Greece Superleague club Ledaviakos and CSKA Sofia previously.
Seoul E-Land FC
The 29-year-old defender Ko Kyung-joon has returned to the K-League Classic after a disappointing time at J-League’s Tokyo Verdy, where he appeared only six times.
The K-League Challenge title challengers have added 30-year-old Park Hee-do to their squad. The experienced midfielder joins as a free agent from Qatar’s Al Khor SC but previously played for Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and FC Seoul.
The 26-year-old Brazilian striker Dudu has made a return to the Japanese top-flight football after previously spending time on loan with Kashiwa Reysol. Most recently, Dudu has been plying his trade for Figueirense, where he scored six times in 20 matches.
Weslley Feitosa, a Brazilian forward, has made the move to the J-League from Thai Premier League champions Buriram United until the end of the season.
Japan midfielder Hotaru Yamaguchi has returned to his homeland after the relegation of his previous club, Hannover 96, to the German second division.
Former Newcastle United forward Xisco has signed with the Twin Qilins from Cordoba in Spain’s Segunda Division. The 30-year-old scored 18 goals in 42 matches during the most recent league campaign.
Former Hamburger SV player Zhi-Gin Lam has joined the Hong Kong Premier League side. The German-born defender played for Hamburg from 2011 to 2014 before making the move to Greuther Fürth in the German second division.
Mikel Arruabarena joins the 2015-16 Hong Kong Premier League champions from La Liga club SD Eiba. Although he appeared more than 170 times for Eibar, scoring 44 goals in the process, his most recent appearances came for Huesca in the Spanish second division, where he spent the last five months on loan.
Veteran New Zealand striker Shane Smeltz has made the move to Malaysia from Sydney FC. The 34-year-old has 24 international goals in 51 appearances for New Zealand, and previously played for Wellington Phoenix, Gold Coast United and Perth Glory in the A-League.
Senegal international Morgaro Gomis have made the move to Southeast Asia after spending large parts of his career in Britain with the likes of Dundee United, Birmingham City, Hearts and Motherwell.
The Bangkok club have added 22-year-old centre-back Manuel Bihr to their squad. After graduating from the VfB Stuttgart academy, Bihr had previously played for C Nurnberg and Stuttgarter Kickers.
Additionally, Prat Samakrat have made the move to the Thai capital from Suphanburi FC.
Florent Sinama-Pongolle, who won the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool, has made the move to the Thai Premier League. The 31-year-old makes the move from Scotland’s Dundee United and have played for various clubs in Spain, Portugal, Russia and the US after leaving Anfield.
The Thai Premier League leaders have re-signed Ivorian attacking midfielder Yaya Soumahoro on a two-year deal from Sint-Truiden. He spent two seasons with Muangthong previously, scoring 32 goals in 72 matches between 2008 and 2010.
