We’ve seen some incredible misses in front of goal in our day, but this one takes the cake.
The miss came in the dying seconds of the Women’s Under-19 European Championship final between Spain and France, and Spanish captain Nahikari Garcia was the unfortunate player who committed one of must gut-wrenching howlers in footballing history.
It’s not just the miss itself but also the match situation at the time.
Spain were trailing 2-1 in the 92nd minute of the Championship final when a shot rebounded off the French keeper, presenting Garcia with an open goal and the perfect opportunity to bring her side back from the brink.
Granted, the conditions were terrible, but what happened next has to be seen to believed:
Oh, no! For once, the pitch really must be blamed for a horror miss… ?https://t.co/IBZkPRNdFj

Spare a thought for Garcia, who was quite obviously distraught after letting her side down so badly.
