Chelsea defender Baba Rahman will join Schalke after the Ghana international successfully completed his medical at the Bundesliga club on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old joined the London club last season on a five-year deal from Augsburg, as cover for first-choice left-back Cesar Azpilicueta.
Rahman however was to be more than just a bit-part player, featuring in 23 matches for the London club.
However, new Blues coach Antonio Conte has allowed a number of players to be loaned out, with Rahman expected to be part of the group which includes mainly young fringe players in order for them to get first team exposure this season.
Rahman also spent two years playing for Bundesliga 2 side Greuther Furth and will reunite with former Augsburg manager Markus Weinzierl, who was handed the top job by the Miners just two months ago.
