AFF Suzuki Cup draw completed

The draw for the AFF Suzuki Cup was held on Tuesday night in Yangon, Myanmar.

Philippines and Myanmar will play host to this year’s tournament, which features the top sides from the ASEAN region.

Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia have already qualified for the main event, while Brunei, Cambodia, Laos and Timor-Leste will square off for the final position in the main event.

The dates for the qualification round was also confirmed during the draw:

For the main event, Indonesia was the first name out of the pot, and will be one of the four sides contesting Group A. Meanwhile, the winner of the qualification round will be in Group B.

Four-time winners Singapore were also drawn in Group A, while 2008 champions Vietnam were the next team assigned to Group B.

Defending champions Thailand were also drawn in Group A, with 2010 winners Malaysia placed in Group B.

Philippines were the final team picked for Group A, while fellow co-hosts Myanmar completed Group B.

Group A seems to be the more hotly-contested of the two groups, with various potentially mouthwatering clashes on the cards when the tournament kicks off on November 19.
