Federico Fazio's agent says the Tottenham defender is on his way to Italy to sign for Serie A side Roma.
The 29-year-old centre-back, who spent last season on loan with Sevilla, now looks to be on the move again after initial reports suggested he may make his switch a permanent one.
But his representative, Salva Sanchez, told LaRoma24: "I can't tell you the formula of the transfer, but we're there.
"Tonight we'll fly from London to Italy. The first contacts weren't recent, Franco Baldini played a key role in this operation."
Fazio made a poor start to his Spurs career and was shipped out on loan just two seasons, a number of red cards and 14 appearances later.
It is unclear as to whether the Giallorossi will look to sign him out-right or take him on loan but they are in dire need of defensive replacements with Antonio Rudiger and Mario Rui both ruled out for up to six months with anterior cruciate ligament damage.
