Primera Division outfit Valencia have announced the signing of Argentina international Ezequiel Garay from Russian Club FC Zenit for an undisclosed fee.
If reports are to be believed Los Che beat Premier League club Chelsea to the players signature, although Valencia always seemed to be his most likely destination after Zenit's head coach Mircea Lucescu revealed they were his preference earlier on deadline day.
The 29-year-old defender arrives with a wealth of experience having previously represented the likes of Real Madrid and Benfica. He has also been capped 32 times for Argentina.
He has signed a four-year deal, that will see him at the club until the end of June 2020.
"Ezequiel Marcelo Garay is an imposing centre-half who knows his trade well," read the statement on Valencia's official website.
"At 29, he has plenty of experience playing for Newell's, Racing Santander, Real Madrid, Benfica and Zenit."
"On top of this he has plenty of trophies in the cabinet: An Argentina championship, a Copa del Rey, two leagues and a cup in Portugal, and a championship, a cup and two Supercups in Russia."
