Alonso wants to win it all before retiring

Ernesto Valverde e ngại lối chơi tấn công mạnh mẽ của Liverpool

Xabi Alonso has revealed he wants to win as many trophies as possible with FC Bayern München before he retires from playing football.

The 34-year-old has enjoyed a glorious career for the likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern as well as the Spain national team.

He has won virtually every major honour available in the game at the highest level including the World Cup with Spain in 2010. In 2004/05 he also was a major part of the Liverpool side that claimed the UEFA Champions League crown.

It was a feat he repeated close to 10 years later when Real secured their 10th title in 2013/14.

The metronomic midfielder is yet to win Europe’s most prestigious club competition with Bayern, however. And he has revealed it is one of the targets he has set his sights on before he retires.

In an extract from Simon Hughes’ latest book called Ring of Fire, Alonso said: “I know that these are my last years and that is why I want success even more. I am at Bayern until 2017.”

He added: “I want to win the Bundesliga again. I want to win the cup again. I want to win the Champions League for the third time with a different club. I want to win all that is to be won. And then I maybe retire.”
