Eric Dier has signed a five-year contract to remain at Tottenham Hotspur until 2021. The 22-year-old has become an integral member of the Spurs side since joining from Sporting Lisbon in 2014.
In his first season at the club, Dier played in defence before moving to a holding midfield role in last term.
It is a position he has excelled in and was a major component of the side that challenged for the Premier League title during that campaign.
In addition, his good form led to England recognition and he has made 11 appearances and scored two goals for the Three Lions.
Spurs have confirmed via the club's social media channels that Dier has penned a new five-year deal and the versatile star expressed his delight at extending his contract.
He said: "There are many reasons why I wanted to commit my future to Tottenham. We have a fantastic squad, full of lots of young exciting players, the new stadium is on its way and obviously we have fantastic facilities here at the training ground."
Dier joins Christian Eriksen in commiting his long term future to Spurs with Harry Kane and Kyle Walker widely expected to follow suit in the foreseeable future.
