FC Bayern München were behind early on against struggling FC Ingolstadt 04, but came back to record a convincing 3-1 win at the Allianz Arena on Saturday afternoon.
- Bayern 3 Ingolstadt 1
- Lezcano fires Ingolstadt in front
- Lewandowski restores parity four minutes later
- Alonso puts Bayern ahead after the break
- Rafinha wraps it up
- Ribery provides all three assists
The scores were level at halftime after Darío Lezcano poked through the legs of Manuel Neuer with Ingolstadt's very first chance in just the eighth minute, only for Robert Lewandowski to chip in a 12th-minute equaliser.
The Bavarians had the lead when Xabi Alonso found the bottom corner five minutes into the second half.
Rafinha then secured the points five minutes from the end when he fired home, making it a trio of assists for Franck Ribery.
The hosts got off to a flying start at the Allianz and twice went close to grabbing the lead in the opening six minutes.
Renato Sanches fired wide of the left-hand post in the second minute before Kingsley Coman saw his goal-bound effort kept out by Orjan Nyland.
However, it was the visitors who would go on to claim the lead in the eighth minute of play, Lezcano latching onto a pin-point pass from Mathew Leckie before slotting home from the left side of the box to stun the German champions.
But the goal only served to fire-up the hosts, who drew level just four minutes later when Lewandowski collected a through pass from Franck Ribéry before lifting the ball over the keeper and into the back of the net from a tight angle.
Despite allowing Bayern back into the game, it was Ingolstadt who ended the first half on the front foot.
Markus Suttner, Mathew Leckie and Alfredo Morales all went close to adding a second for the visitors, while Lewandowski failed to direct a headed effort on target at the opposite end of the pitch.
Parity did not last long after the restart, as Ribery grabbed his second assist of the game when he plucked down Rafinha’s cross to the back post and laid it off for Alonso to skid home with a low drive into the bottom corner.
Four minutes later and Neuer came to the rescue to protect that lead when Leckie bullied his way through the Bayern defence and blasted it straight at the Germany international, who pushed it over the bar.
The result was assured in the 84th minute when Rafinha blasted a low effort across goal and into the bottom corner, with Ribery picking him out with time and space down the right for his third assist of the game.
