Iniesta: Barcelona can survive without Messi

Data preview: Manchester City v Tottenham – after 4-3 thriller in Champions League

Andres Iniesta is confident that Barcelona can have a lot of success even though they will be without superstar Lionel Messi for the next couple of weeks.

The Argentine star suffered a groin injury during Barcelona’s 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid and is expected to be out of action for up to three weeks.

Despite this, Iniesta has backed Barcelona to overcome the big blow they have been dealt by coming together and playing as a team.

"The team is stronger with Messi than without him, but it is the squad as a whole that wins titles," the midfielder said. "We all wish he could play these next few games, but unforeseen circumstances do happen."

Barcelona will be on the road three times while Messi is sidelined as they will travel to Sporting Gijon, VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach and Celta Vigo prior to the international break in October.
