FC Schalke 04 midfielder Nabil Bentaleb says there are no easy games in the Bundesliga, after enduring a tough start to life with his new club.
The 21-year-old joined the Royal Blues on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur during the recent transfer window, but has not made the start he would’ve wanted.
Schalke find themselves languishing in 16th position in the Bundesliga standings, with their solitary win of the campaign coming against VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach last weekend.
“The results in the Bundesliga were unfortunately not so good,” he said.
“Thankfully we picked up the win over Mönchengladbach, which has done us a lot of good. We have to use the weeks ahead to build on that.
“We are working hard as a team to be successful. I feel very comfortable in the squad – from the very first day, the boys have been really welcoming to me. I will give everything to bring success to the team.
“The win has given us a lot more confidence, and we are all freer mentally because of it. It is important that we do not make mistakes again.
“That much has already lost us too many points. I have made errors of my own that have led to opposition goals and that cannot happen going forward.”
The midfielder also weighed in with his opinion regarding the differences between the English Premier League and the Bundesliga.
“Every game in the Bundesliga is difficult. There are no opponents that can be beaten easily and every team presents a new challenge. As a team we will watch videos and clips of our opponents by way of preparation,” he added.
“Both leagues are very strong. The Bundesliga is more about playing, the Premier League is more focused on attacking the ball higher up. I feel good in the Bundesliga.”
Schalke will be aiming to record their second victory of the season when they face FC Augsburg on Saturday, 15 October.
