Klopp still has final say on Liverpool transfers

I don’t feel sad, I feel happy – Torres on retirement

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists he will continue to have the final say on transfers, despite the club appointing a director of football.

Mike Edwards has been promoted in Liverpool’s management structure to sporting director after previously serving as a technical director at Anfield.

Edwards – who joined from Spurs five years ago – will oversee Liverpool’s scouting set-up and transfer negotiations, although Klopp will still decide which players are signed by the club.

“We will work like we did in the past,” said Klopp.

“From my point of view it’s a natural thing. Transfers are going always the same way.

“Whoever brings the player, if it’s me or my assistant, then we have a lot of things to watch, to talk about and in the end I have the final say.

“That’s the most important thing for you to know.”
