Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has heaped praise on midfielder Eden Hazard, saying that he is showing the qualities of a star player once again.

Hazard has been in spectacular form this season as he has scored five goals and notched up two assists in 13 appearances in all competitions.

This marks a dramatic improvement from last season, where the Belgium international found the back of the net only six times in 43 matches.

“We all know the great talent of Eden,”  Conte said. “I think he must continue to work and to improve his talent, but in this moment he’s putting his talent, putting himself, in the team.

“That is fantastic. It’s the right way to become one of the best in the world.”

But, what exactly has led to Hazard’s resurgence to form this season? According to Conte, it’s due to the fact that the 25-year-old is playing closer to goal.

“Eden is playing now more close to the goal,” Conte said. “He’s participating more in offensive situations. I think it’s better for him, this type of situation, which sees him staying in a position where he can finish easier compared to in the past. For this reason, I think and I want him to continue in this way.”
