Alonso to wait and see on Bayern contract

FC Bayern München midfielder Xabi Alonso has revealed that he has not yet made a decision regarding a new contract.

The 35-year-old joined Die Roten from Real Madrid and his currently in his third season at the club.

Alonso’s contract at Bayern is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, but he is not looking to sign a new deal any time soon.

“I don’t have anything clear, I have a contract until June and then I shall see,” he told Onda Cero radio.

“I haven’t made a decision.

“For the time being, I’m just focusing on enjoying the moment and once I know what is best, then I will make a decision.”

On the race for the Bundesliga title, Alonso commented on the historic rise of Leipzig, who enjoy a three-point lead over Bayern.

“It’s strange,” Alonso added. “In past seasons, we have become accustomed to being in the top position with more points.

“It’s going to be a challenge.

“Leipzig are strong and are playing once a week while we have a more challenging calendar.”
