Paris Saint-Germain head coach Unai Emery was delighted that his players pulled off a 2-0 win over Angers in their Ligue 1 clash on Wednesday.
The Parisians took the lead in when Thiago Silva headed home Luca Moura's corner kick at the near post, and Edinson Cavani slotted a penalty, after Hatem Ben Arfa was fouled in the box, to secure the win.
The result sees second-placed PSG close the gap on leaders Nice to a single point, while AS Monaco trail Emery's side by two.
"It was an important game to win all the three points for the classification in the table," Emery told a press conference.
"We played against a tough team, who were very compact defensively, but we did a solid game, playing seriously.
"Ligue 1 is a competitive league with PSG and other good teams, like Lyon, Monaco and Saint-Etienne, so the championship is very strong today.
"I think first of our own way and if we do our job, then it pays."
