Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano believes that teammate Lionel Messi is like three players combined into one.
Mascherano insisted that players like Messi are rare in football because he is a complete player who excels at various parts of the beautiful game.
"You do not ever see a total, complete player. And that is Leo. He is a creative player, a midfielder, but he is also a goal scorer. Finding three kinds of players in one is what makes him different," he told FourFourTwo.
"The capacity of a player who understands football better than anyone is what means he can keep adapting again and again to new circumstances. It is his capacity to see what is going on the pitch, to reinvent himself."
Messi has bagged 19 goals in only 16 appearances so far this season, which includes nine in the Champions League and La Liga respectively.
