Luisito Suarez claims decade-old deal with Messi

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has a commitment to Inter, Luisito Suarez said, claiming the Serie A giants had a decade-old pre-contractual agreement in their possession.

Suarez said that a deal had been made 10 years ago while he was working as an adviser for Inter.

Messi had given the Nerazzurri more than just his word that he would join them, Suarez said.

"We could have got him when Barcelona had Brazilian Deco, Ronaldinho and [Samuel] Eto'o up front," he told Radio Kiss Kiss.

"I still have the pre-contractual agreement that he signed."

However, Inter management seem resigned to the fact the Argentine will not be moving to Italy, with Suarez saying it would "remain just a dream," pouring cold water on the dream of Inter sponsor Pirelli's chief executive officer, Marco Tronchetti Provera, who said he wanted to see Messi in the club's colours.

Provera was "saying it for entertainment value," Suarez said, while Inter coach Stefano Pioli told reporters that dreaming about signing Messi could be "dangerous" to the club's focus.

Turning to modern-day club issues, Suarez said Inter were in search of an on-field leader.

"When you've got a player like [captain Mauro] Icardi up there you can hide certain problems, but this cannot happen all the time."

"For years now, Inter have been lacking a leader who knows how to dictate the tempo and can be the coach out on the field."

Inter’s next outing is against Napoli tomorrow in Serie A.
