Real Madrid rest key trio for Depor clash

Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane has left Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Luka Modric out of his squad for the clash with Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday.

With one eye on the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in Japan, Zidane has elected to avoid risking the trio in Saturday night's Primera Division encounter at the Santiago Bernabeu.

And, with Gareth Bale facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after recently undergoing an ankle operation, Zidane will field a frontline composed of reserve team forward Mariano, Alvaro Morata and Lucas Vazquez.

Real are currently six points clear at the summit of the Primera Division, following a 1-1 draw with title rivals Barcelona last weekend.
