Full report

The first half was a truly one-sided affair, with Barcelona enjoying a massive 80 per cent possession of the ball and creating 11 attempts on goal.

However, the visitors failed to show a cutting edge in front of goal as they wasted a whole host of opportunities.

The first chance of note arrived in the eighth minute of play, Luis Suarez firing just wide of the left post from the right-hand side of the box.

And the Uruguayan was again left cursing his luck four minutes later after seeing his powerful effort crash back off the post.

The chances continued to flow, with Samuel Umtiti, Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta all going close to breaking the deadlock.

Later efforts from Suarez, Messi and Arda Turan also failed to find the mark as Barca were forced to settle for a draw at the half-time break.

Osasuna started the second half on the foot and gave Barcelona a big scare in the 49th minute when forward Sergio Leon struck the crossbar with an attempted chip from all of 30 yards out.

However, they were made to rue that missed chance as Barca went on to claim the lead on the hour mark. Jordi Alba skipped past his marker on the left flank before firing a low cross into the danger area, where Suarez was waiting to prod the ball into an unguarded net.

Luis Enrique's side redoubled their efforts after claiming the lead, and twice went close to adding to their advantage.

Suarez fired wide of the mark in the 65th minute, before Messi saw his goal-bound effort kept out by Nauzet Perez in the Osasuna goal.

Barca weren't to be denied, though, as they went on to double their advantage in the 72nd minute, Messi firing into the top-right corner from the centre of the box after being teed up by Alba.

Osasuna briefly threatened to pull one back in the 77th minute, but Leon saw his long-range shot saved by Barca goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen.

And, with the win already in the bag, Barcelona rubbed further salt in the wounds of the hosts in the second minute of injury-time. Messi picked up the ball some way out and skipped past three challenges before placing a powerful shot in the top-right corner.
