Indonesia midfielder Stefano Lilypaly has revealed that his side will be aiming to score two more goals in the second leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup final against Thailand on Saturday.
Indonesia stunned the reigning champions in the first leg in Bogor on Wednesday as they came from a goal down to triumph 2-1.
Teerasil Dangda gave Thailand the lead in the first half, but it wasn’t until the 64th minute that Indonesia began their comeback as Rizky Pora and Hansamu Pranata scored in quick succession to send their home fans into ecstasy.
Going into the second leg in Bangkok with the upper hand, Lilypaly is determined to see his side outlast the War Elephants and win their first-ever AFF Suzuki Cup title.
“We have scored two goals in every game. Hopefully we can repeat that performance, score another two goals to bring home the title,” he told detikSport.
While Lilypaly is brimming with confidence ahead of the second leg, Indonesia coach Alfred Riedl has warned his side not to let their guard down as Thailand will be looking to bounce back on home soil.
Furthermore, they know what it takes to win the tournament as they have done it on four occasions. Should they win this time around, they will be crowned champions for a record-breaking fifth time.
“We go to Bangkok with the lead, so, of course, we have the chance to become champions. But we cannot underestimate Thailand. They are after all the best team in Southeast Asia,” he said.
