FC Bayern München have revealed that Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery are injury doubts for Sunday’s Bundesliga clash with SV Darmstadt 98 at Jonathan-Heimes-Stadion am Böllenfalltor.
The duo have picked up minor muscle strains and were forced to train alone in the side’s performance centre on Thursday.
The wingers, who have played a huge role in Bayern’s success for close to a decade, have become increasingly injury-prone in recent seasons.
Another star making his way back is Javi Martinez – the Spain international has been ruled out with a hamstring injury since October.
A statement on club’s official website read: “The Bayern squad had a trio of players missing as they held a training session on Thursday ahead of the game against SV Darmstadt.
“Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and Javi Martinez were all training alone in the performance centre.”
However, better news for the Bavarians is that defenders Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng returned to full training this week after overcoming injury and illness respectively.
The Carlo Ancelotti-coached outfit are widely expected to sweep aside Darmstad, who are bottom of the standings in Germany’s top flight. The Lilies have lost seven matches in a row in all competitions.
