Eredivisie leaders Feyenoord have announced the contract extension of key midfielder Karim El Ahmadi that will now keep him at the club until the end of the 2018/19 season.
The Morocco international has been an integral figure in his deep-lying role since returning for his second spell at de Stadionclub – following a short stint with Aston Villa in the Premier League.
His role alongside young midfielder Tonny Vilhena has allowed Feyenoord to express themselves going forward and as vice-captain, his experience has become an extremely valuable asset around the training ground.
With six goals in 27 games across all competitions this season, the 32-year-old playmaker has been duly rewarded for his consistency as Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side are on the cusp of their first title since 1999.
Last term, El Ahmadi helped Feyenoord win the KNVB Cup, his first trophy with the club.
