Olympique Lyonnais manager Bruno Genesio was delighted to get past Roma in the Europa League on Thursday, after winning 5-4 on aggregate.
Lyon lost the second leg 2-1 at the Stadio Olimpico but the 4-2 win in the first tie in France helped them eliminate one of the tournament favourites.
Genesio was pleased to qualify for the quarter-finals and is now focused on leading his side all the way to the final.
“It is satisfying to have qualified, as Roma were one of the strongest teams in the Europa League,” said Genesio in his press conference.
“Obviously the first leg was decisive, especially that final goal from Alexandre Lacazette in stoppages. We are truly satisfied with this progress, it is a very important result and we knocked out a strong side.
“There are others along our path and we want to go all the way.”
