Jeju looking to thwart Urawa’s red-hot attack

‘If it was my team, it would be a ‘no’ from me.’ Steve McManaman doesn’t back Neymar’s mooted La Liga return…

Jeju United are looking to make their mark on the AFC Champions League when they host Urawa Red Diamonds on Wednesday.

The South Korean side have won four of their last five matches, including a 2-1 win over Daegu in their most recent match to bounce back from defeat to the Pohang Steelers.

That leaves them top of the pile in the K League standings, and includes a recent win in the AFC Champions League group stage over another Japanese side, Gamba Osaka.

Over in the J1 League, the Reds are in free-scoring form in recent weeks, having put six past Albirex Niigata before last weekend’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Shimizu S-Pulse, which included a hat trick from the league’s top scorer, Shinzo Koroki, who has a phenomenal 11 goals from 12 matches.

Behind Koroki in the scoring charts, with six goals from nine appearances, is teammate Rafael da Silva.

The Brazilian midfielder is their creative nexus alongside the veteran striker.

For Jeju, midfielders Lee Chang-min and Hwang Il-su have both received their first call-ups to the Korea national team.

This exciting first leg knock-out clash kicks off at 14:00 (HKT) on Wednesday.
