‘If it was my team, it would be a ‘no’ from me.’ Steve McManaman doesn’t back Neymar’s mooted La Liga return…

Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke has extended his contract with the club by five years, committing himself to the Rojiblancos until 2024.

"Jose Resurreccion 'Koke' and Atletico Madrid have completed an agreement for the player to sign a contract extension until June 30, 2024," a club statement read.

Koke joined the Spanish outfit as an eight-year-old and made his senior first-team debut during the 2011/12 La Liga campaign.

"Atletico is the club of my life and it's an honor to be a part of its future," the 25-year-old told the club's website.

"This is great news for all Atletico fans," Atletico sporting director Jose Luis Perez Caminero added, according to ESPN. "He is one of the leaders of the team and has grown up with the values of this club.

"Despite his youth, he has vast experience and he is an example to all the children from our Academy. He is loved, respected and will make history in this club."
