VfL Wolfsburg have confirmed that they won't be retaining the services of striker Borja Mayoral, who will instead return to his parent club Real Madrid.
The 20-year-old spent the 2016/17 season on loan with the Wolves but managed just two goals in 19 Bundesliga appearances.
Prior to moving to Germany, the forward was highly rated with Real coach Zinedine Zidane saying, "Mayoral's a striker who scores every time he has a shot."
However, he seemingly failed to hit the heights in Germany's top flight and the club have since confirmed he will return to the reigning European champions.
Wolfsburg's official Twitter account said, "Borja will return to Madrid at the end of the month when his loan spell with the Wolves ends. Gracias (thank you), Borja!"
