Real Betis president Angel Haro has denied reports that midfielder Dani Ceballos is set to join Real Madrid.
The 20-year-old has impressed for Spain U21 at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, where La Rojita will face Germany U21 in the final on Friday.
Haro has now challenged the veracity of reports that Los Blancos will activate his €15m release clause and offer him a five-year deal before loaning him back to Betis for the upcoming campaign.
"There are no ongoing negotiations with any club,” Haro told Canal Sur TV, via Football-Espana.
"We would like him to remain at Betis and we will do all that we can for that to happen, but it doesn't only depend on us but on several parties.
"It would be in Betis' best interest for him to remain as long as possible and for him to help us win titles. Next season we want to have a leap in quality."
