Chelsea are attempting to hijack Romelu Lukaku’s switch to Old Trafford by matching Manchester United’s £75million bid for the striker.
United made their move for Lukaku earlier this week, with the Everton frontman poised to reunite with his former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho – who sold the Belgian international to the Toffees for £28m three years ago.
However, widespread reports in the UK have indicated that Chelsea have now matched United’s bid for Lukaku, in a bid to re-sign the 24-year-old.
Suspect I'll wake up to the news that Raiola has got his way on Lukaku

That will leave the decision in Lukaku’s court over where he moves.
Perhaps tellingly though, Chelsea are not willing to match United’s fees for Lukaku’s agent Mino Raiola, who represents Old Trafford pair Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Another big payday for Mino Raiola if Romelu Lukaku goes to Manchester United. Stands to make about £10m. Less if Lukaku chooses Chelsea

United remain favourites for Lukaku and hope to link up with the frontman when they head to California this weekend for their pre-season tour.
Lukaku has been on holiday in Los Angeles, with United keen for him to undergo a medical in the USA before joining up with his new team-mates.
