Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez insists he wouldn’t bring Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin back to the club because he shouldn't have left as a teenager.
The Blaugrana have often seen their La Masia academy products snapped up by other teams abroad, with the likes of Gerard Pique and Cesc Fabregas leaving early in their careers only to return later on.
Xavi has grown frustrated with Barca's inability to hold on to their young talent, and doesn't want players like Bellerin to be welcomed back after leaving to play elsewhere.
"I haven't seen him play a lot, but I'll tell you something, it's difficult for me to accept signing a player we already had," he told Spanish outlet Sport.
"Yes, it can work out or not. But I would not sign players who leave. Why are they leaving at 16 or 17? It's baffling to be. I don't understand it.
"You were here, you wanted to leave, then you don't come back."
Bellerin left the Catalans as a 16-year-old to sign for the Gunners, and has been linked with a return this transfer window.
