AS Roma striker Edin Dzeko gave his take on new signings Aleksandar Kolarov and Cengiz Under, who both featured in a recent friendly against Juventus.
Dzeko scored the equaliser in their 1-1 International Champions Cup draw with Juve on Sunday, and the Bosnian got his assist from his former Manchester City teammate.
"We know each other well," Dzeko said of Kolarov. "He provided many assists for me in the Premier League.
"He is a very strong player, who helps this Roma and I'm glad he came here."
After Dzeko’s 74th-minute equaliser in Foxborough, near Boston, the match went to a penalty shootout that the Giallorossi lost 5-4.
One of the players who found the net in the shootout was young Turkish forward Cengiz Ünder, a recent signing from Istanbul-based side Basaksehir.
"He is very strong, and we have already seen that which is why Roma bought him," Dzeko added. "He has a lot of quality, and he is still young, meaning he can learn and improve here."
Looking ahead to the new Serie A campaign, Dzeko believes the Italian top-flight will be tougher this season as Roma look to maintain or improve on last season’s second-place finish.
"Juve remains a strong team, and other teams have bought a lot of players, but I think Serie A will be better this year," he said.
"We did well and we have trained very well in America. I think we are ready for the new season, but we still have 20 days to go."
