Goretzka denies Bayern interest

Reported FC Bayern München target and FC Schalke 04 midfielder, Leon Goretzka, has denied that any deal exists for him to sign for the German champions in the near future.

The 22-year-old has just one year remaining on his existing contract with the Royal Blues but has been vehement to deny talk of a 'deal' being already arranged with Bundesliga champions Bayern.

Goretzka made 39 appearances from midfield and scored seven goals last season for his current club, and indicated he has no intention of departing the Domenico Tedesco-coached outfit anytime soon.

He told reporters, "There is no agreement, it's complete nonsense. Obviously, I understand that this subject is interesting a lot of people. I have made it clear that if a decision is made, I will announce it. Because that's not the case, I have nothing new to report."

Tedesco added of his player's commitment to the cause, "It's about the here and now, everything else is of secondary importance. He will be a very important player for us, and I'll treat him as such. What's important is that he is willing to walk over hot coals for us."
