Ancelotti: English clubs will strengthen Champions League

FC Bayern München manager Carlo Ancelotti believes the Champions League will be tougher than last season due to Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool joining.

Manchester United qualified for the European competition after winning the Europa League last term, while Chelsea are back thanks to finishing first in the Premier League.

Liverpool are also expected to join them but still need to get through the qualifiers, after finishing fourth in the Premier League.

"The Champions League this year will be more competitive because there are some really important English teams in the competition," Ancelotti said, according to Four Four Two.

"United, City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool – I think, and I hope, for Jurgen [Klopp, Liverpool manager] to win qualification.

"The Champions League will surely be more competitive and more difficult to win."
